Common Misconceptions About Fashion

What is Fashion? There are a lot of misconceptions out there that people have in general about Fashion. Read on to learn about the most common ones..
1. If it is not Expensive, it is not Fashionable.
common misconceptions about fashion
If expensive clothes were the Holy Grail to Fashion, we would never have had all those celebrity Fashion Disasters. Fashion does not come with a price tag. Affordable Fashion can look as good and chic. It is about picking the right pieces and matching them well.
2. Fashion is only for the Thin
common misconceptions about fashion
Whoever said only Thin People can look Fashionable, make sure you grab them by their collar or the latest necklace they are flaunting and give them one tight slap and call them ‘racist or figur-ist’ or something to that tune. Fashion will never judge you based on your colour, nationality and size! It is only a matter of picking the right outfits to compliment your body type.
3. Men’s Fashion is Boring
common misconceptions about fashion
Yes, they are not as lucky as the girls who get to choose from a wider repertoire but they are not so unlucky anymore. Men’s fashion is not “Oh well just give me a White Branded Tee and Blue Jeans, Maybe a branded shoe and I am done”. Men can now experiment to their heart’s content and if it is a solace to anyone, Girls find Fashionable Men Irresistible. So if you are a man reading this, it is time to grab those colored pants you did not pick up on Sale last week ;-)
4. If I wear Branded Clothes, I am in Fashion
common misconceptions about fashion
This cannot be more untrue. Yes we all have our favourite brands we swear by but wearing them all over will not make us any more fashionable if our style quotient is zero.
5.  If the Belt and Shoe color match, you have got it right
common misconceptions about fashion
Yes it is a good thing to go crazy matching the Belt and Shoe color and what not. But it is completely unacceptable to not pay heed to the rest of the outfit. Belt-Shoe color matches are not a complete necessary and most of the times they make you look ‘Formal’.
6. The more Bling, the Better
common misconceptions about fashion
Diamond this, Gold that, Anklets here, Bracelets everywhere – STOP. You are confusing everyone. Keep it simple. More Bling does not necessarily translate into Fashion-Savvy.
7. Some people are born Stylish
common misconceptions about fashion
No one has ever been born Stylish. Some have just learnt the trick faster. You can ask any top designer, any top model or any top Fashion Blogger. Even better, go and dig up their childhood photos. Style is personal but it grows with time and is usually inspired from many elements.
